Google Play feature graphic: size, requirements & tips

By Digital Sauce · Updated July 2026 · 3 min read

The feature graphic is the wide banner Google Play shows at the top of your listing and anywhere your app gets promoted. It's required to be featured — and it's the one asset most developers get wrong. Here's the exact spec and how to design one that works.

The exact size

SpecRequirement
Dimensions1024 × 500 px (exact)
FormatJPEG or 24-bit PNG (no transparency)
Aspect ratio≈2:1, landscape

There's no flexibility here: it must be exactly 1024×500. Anything else is rejected.

Where it appears

The feature graphic can show at the top of your store listing, and Google uses it when your app is featured in collections, editorial placements or ads. If Google Play ever promotes your app, this is the image that represents it — so it's worth getting right even though it's easy to overlook.

Mind the safe area

Google can overlay a play button or crop the edges depending on where the graphic is shown. Keep your logo and any text in the centre, well away from the edges, and never put essential information in the corners.

Design tips that actually help

Make it alongside your screenshots

Playboard lets you design the 1024×500 feature graphic right next to your screenshots, sharing the same colours and fonts, and exports it at the exact size with everything else. That consistency is what makes a listing look professionally designed.
